George Bernard Shaw had it right.
Imagination is the start of creation.
You imagine what you desire.
You will what you imagine.
You create what you will.

Steve Jobs could see over the horizon.

He was one of our era’s great imagineers.
The co-founder of Apple left quite a legacy.
Jobs didn’t invent the personal computer.
Nor did he invent the MP3 player.
He innovated around these breakthroughs.
He produced the MacIntosh and the iPod.
He saw possibilities in many things.
Unlike others, he acted on what he imagined.

Jobs surrounded himself with visionaries.

The iPod, iPhone and iPad were team efforts.
He inspired others to join him in his vision.
An example was visionary Rob Campbell.
After college, Rob needed a job.
At Tandy he asked them about their vision.
They said to ride the next big fad.
At Commodore he asked about their vision.
They said to increase their stock value.
At Apple, he asked Jobs about his vision.
The answer, he says, still gives him goose bumps.
That was more than 30 years ago.

Jobs didn’t talk about fads or stock values.

He talked about the value of personal computers.
He talked about how they could change lives.
• How they could change the way we work.
• Change how we raise our children.
• Change the way we entertain ourselves.
Jobs talked about this for an hour.
He was a magical storyteller.
He had vision. He could see over the horizon.
How could Campbell not buy in to that vision?

P.S. Campbell went on to greater things.
He developed the Power Point system.

Now ask yourself these questions:
• What’s my vision for my business?
• Is it to make lots of money?
• Is it to send my kids to a top college?
• Is it to buy a second home and sports car?
Or is it to change people’s lives for the better?
