Jim Myrick becomes Managing Partner of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Charleston office
January 11, 2018Jim Myrick is the new Managing Partner of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Charleston office, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Myrick succeeds Chuck Baker, who has led the Charleston office since 2011.
As Office Managing Partner, Myrick leads a team of 41 lawyers and 70 total team members.
“I began my legal career in the Charleston office in 1988 after law school graduation. I am privileged to serve our clients, the community and the Charleston office as the Managing Partner. We will continue to to bring together our regional heritage and local knowledge to meet our clients’ needs.”
Myrick is an experienced trial lawyer and will remain a litigation partner in the Charleston office. He has developed his legal talent from more than 30 years of litigating cases, successfully resolving an array of disputes in South Carolina’s state and federal courts and trying scores of cases to verdict before judges and juries. Myrick represents major national and regional companies and banks as well as individuals and minority business interests; he has represented some for over 25 years. He also serves on Womble Bond Dickinson’s Firm Management Committee.
Baker was managing partner of Buist Moore Smythe McGee and spearheaded that firm’s transition to Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP in 2011. Recent expansions include offices in Boston and Southern California (Los Angeles and Orange County).
“Jim is a natural choice to succeed me as Charleston Office Managing Partner. He is an experienced litigator, a former President of the Charleston County Bar and a national leader in the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. As such, he has the leadership abilities to help our office continue to grow and thrive,” Baker said.
