Joan Herlong and Associates | Sotheby’s International Realty will be launching its second office this year in Clemson.
The new office likely will open in a temporary location in downtown Clemson, and the new permanent office is underway in the Patrick Square development, opening in late spring/early summer 2021.
Joan Herlong, owner and company founder, explained that, “We serve buyers and sellers all across the Upstate, and the Clemson location is ideal because the Clemson market itself is booming, and it straddles the area between our two greatest lake markets: Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell.”
William Herlong, the firm’s chief operating officer, said they have been looking to expand office locations because of the high numbers of clients it has worked with in Pickens, Anderson and Oconee counties, as well as input from the company’s Associates who focus on these areas.
After looking at several sites, the firm’s leadership decided on Patrick Square, a 173-acre traditional neighborhood development that includes homes, a town center, activities and retailers that combine to create a unique sense of place — all within a stone’s throw from Clemson University, which is on Lake Hartwell, and just minutes from Lake Keowee.
“This is where we wanted to plant our flag as we expand into the rolling hills and lake region of the upper west portion of South Carolina,” he said.
The Patrick Square office will feature some unique features, said Jackson Herlong, Broker in Charge and Chief Strategy Officer for the agency. These include non-standard office hours that extend into the evening, to encourage walk-in traffic, as well as the latest in Sotheby’s International Realty technology such as touch gallery, a state-of-the-art storefront display.
No agents have been “assigned” to the new location, as the base of business is fluid; Associates meet with their clients at the clients’ convenience so they will not be limited to using just one office.
“There is a definite ‘wow’ factor that we want to convey to people who know the Sotheby’s International Realty name and brand, but have never personally experienced it,” he said. “That is the essence of what we are bringing to Clemson and Patrick Square.”
