The Director of Development Soccer/Head Coach is responsible for the overall administration and success of the Men’s and Women’s Development Soccer Programs. The primary purpose is to recruit student-athletes, schedule opponents, organize conditioning, plan practices and administer team rules and regulations for the Men’s and Women’s Development Soccer programs.
· Teaching student-athletes the various skills, techniques and knowledge required of soccer. Mentor student athletes on values of teamwork and sportsmanship and rules and policies for the team.
· Recruiting- This function serves as the primary means to establish a competitive team and meet enrollment criteria. The coach needs to be knowledgeable of all league rules and regulations and the requirements for admission to our institution. The coach is expected to recruit student-athletes of good character, academically prepared and of a quality skill level needed to be competitive.
· Team Travel- This involves coordination of scheduling contests, making arrangements for transportation, meals and lodging for the travel group.
· Budget Control- This involves monitoring and planning the use of the Men’s & Women’s Development Soccer budgets related to recruiting, team travel, and purchasing uniforms and equipment.
· Educate student athletes and assistant coaches on field maintenance, upkeep of equipment.
· Fund Raising- This involves lending support toward all departmental fund-raising activities. These activities have included golf outings and auctions and are all vital to supplement the budget of the Men’s and Women’s Development Soccer Programs.
· Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and student assistants.
· Other duties as assigned by Athletics Director.
Qualifications: Requires a bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of coaching and/or playing experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience. A good driving record, valid driver’s license, and successful background check are required. Evening and weekend hours, as needed. Ability to travel, may include overnight, as needed.
Preferred experience includes knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, exceptional interpersonal skills, computer skills, and strong written and oral communication skills.
Salary: $40,000; Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
