Under direct supervision, operates and maintains equipment and systems associated with the City’s Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Plants, pump stations, water wells, elevated tanks, and storm water pumping facilities. Maintains a working knowledge of pumps, engines, generators, electronics, electrical circuits, and SCADA systems. Reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions and Duties
Installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of equipment associated with the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, potable water booster stations and elevated tanks, wastewater lift stations, and storm water pump stations.
Performs routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems, including pumps, engines, generators, electrical systems, SCADA, and other mechanical devices.
Inspects and analyzes mechanical, electrical, and control equipment and provides input on developing cost-effective means of maintenance, repair, or replacement.
Completes inspections, diagnoses, and repairs/replaces motors, pumps, hydraulic equipment, compressors, controls, valves, and related equipment.
Troubleshoots control system and electrical power system failures in plants and pump stations.
Provides support with adjusting, calibrating, and repairing electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment to ensure proper operation, which may include moderate programming of computerized process control equipment, PLCs, RTUs, and SCADA system devices.
Prepares records, reports, and documentation of job safety, mechanical equipment, and lift stations
Qualifications and Requirements
High School Diploma and/or Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or another related field supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years experience in a job-related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid South Carolina Class B Commercial Driver’s License
Preferred Skills: South Carolina Class C Wastewater Collection System Operator License or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of hiring. Experience operating heavy equipment.
