FIREFIGHTER

The Mauldin Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Firefighter. Under the supervision of the station officer, the firefighter will provide responsible work for the daily delivery of services such as fire suppression, emergency medical first response, fire prevention, pre-fire planning, technical rescue and hazardous materials response. The firefighter is responsible for participating in physical fitness and firefighter training with their assigned crew each shift. This person will assist their assigned crew in maintaining a competent level of operational readiness of their assigned station and department apparatus.

Firefighter

The Mauldin Fire Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Firefighter.

services such as fire suppression, emergency medical first response, fire prevention, pre-fire planning, technical

rescue and hazardous materials response. The firefighter is responsible for participating in physical fitness and

firefighter training with their assigned crew each shift. This person will assist their assigned crew in maintaining a

competent level of operational readiness of their assigned station and department apparatus.

Essential Functions:

Responds to emergency incidents as a crew member and functions as assigned in accordance with the

National Incident Management System. MFD currently responds to approximately 4,000 incidents annually.

Completes tasks as assigned from the supervisor.

Completes assigned progressive training and follows mentoring and coaching advice from supervisors for

career development.

Participates in Community Risk Reduction activities.

Follows departmental and city policies as well as state and federal regulations as applicable.

Acceptable education, training and experience:

High school diploma or GED along with 1 year of verifiable firefighting experience.

CDL or Class E license.

The ideal candidate should have the following certifications*:

NFPA Firefighter II (IFSAC or Pro Board)

National Registered EMT-Basic or EMT-Paramedic

NIMS (National Incident Management System)

EVDT (Emergency Vehicle Drivers Training)

Compensation/ Benefits Program:

Starting salary dependent on experience and credentials held by applicant.

Medical Training Incentive Pay: EMT $1,000. Paramedic $3,000
