Lineman – Georgetown County

To assist in the task to construct, maintain and operate electrical facilities using sound construction and engineering practices.

General requirements:

  • Skills and knowledge are normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED. A high school diploma or GED may be replaced by 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must have one year experience as a lineman or be a graduate of a lineman training program.
  • Must send a driving record, and a CDL is preferred.
  • Any applicant shall have 180 days to come into compliance with the living requirements.
  • Commitment to safety and work within a team with good communication skills.
  • Ability to deal courteously with employees, customers and the general public.
  • Availability to work overtime and accept emergency callouts from home.
  • Physical and mental ability to organize and process detailed assignments.
  • Basic computer skills are desired.
  • Preference will be given to anyone who lives in Georgetown County, excluding the area of Georgetown County north of the south causeway of Pawleys Island. Any applicant not living in the required area of Georgetown County will be required to relocate to the required area.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds. Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds,
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (0 to 100 degrees F) in ice, snow, rain, sun, etc.
  • Must be able to walk a mile over uneven terrain, jump ditches, and perform any other requirement associated with power line construction and right-of-way clearing.
  • Must maintain the ability to safely use and/or operate all PPE, tools, materials and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer/s weight limit and other specifications.
