Logistics Officer

Georgetown County Fire / EMS is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to serve as Logistics Officer. This position coordinates departmental logistics, inventory control, facilities support, regulatory compliance reporting, and administrative operations that support Fire / EMS readiness.
The Logistics Officer maintains EMS supply inventories, coordinates station maintenance needs, supports recruitment activities, and assists with emergency operations when required. This position reports directly to the Assistant Fire Chief.
Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
- Manage the department’s Records Management System and prepare reports for attorneys, investigators, insurance representatives, and FOIA requests.
- Ensure compliance with the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS).
- Maintain compliance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations and department frequency licenses.
- Submit and track MIS Help Desk requests for departmental technology support.
Logistics & Inventory Management
- Administer and maintain the department’s EMS supply program ensuring adequate inventory within approved budget limits.
- Order medical supplies, medications, uniforms, and other departmental materials.
- Maintain inventory records and accountability of departmental assets.
- Maintain EMS licensing compliance including DPH, DEA, and CLIA requirements.
- Ensure fire apparatus remain compliant with DPH standards.
Facilities & Maintenance Coordination
- Maintain records related to fire station maintenance and repairs.
- Identify facility issues and coordinate repairs with contractors and County departments.
- Oversee station supply needs and general facility upkeep.
- Retrieve and distribute departmental mail from County offices or the Post Office as needed.
Emergency & Operational Support
- Respond to emergency incidents to assist with accountability systems, incident command support, or other operational assignments.
- Operate department vehicles including staff vehicles, pickup trucks, rescue units, fire apparatus, and ambulances.
- Perform firefighting, emergency medical, or rescue duties as assigned.
Departmental Support
- Assist the Training Division with records management, instruction support, and related duties.
- Assist the Division of Fire & Life Safety with inspections, documentation, and public education initiatives.
- Serve as Volunteer Coordinator.
- Lead or assist with special department projects as assigned.
Recruitment & Workforce Development
- Coordinate hiring processes including job postings, application review, interviews, and pre-employment physicals.
- Build relationships with technical schools and training programs.
- Coordinate participation in job fairs, career days, and recruitment initiatives.
Financial & Grant Support
- Submit budget requests to the Assistant Fire Chief.
- Research grant opportunities and alternative funding sources to support department initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Training & Experience • Minimum three (3) years of general facility maintenance experience or equivalent acceptable experience. • Experience in the delivery of Fire and EMS services required. • NIMS ICS 300 certification required. • Emergency Vehicle Driver Technician (EVDT) certification required. • Must maintain Firefighter I & II certifications and EMS certification (EMT-Basic or Advanced Paramedic).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate operational data. • Ability to interpret technical instructions, diagrams, and regulatory standards. • Ability to read and interpret reports, manuals, and technical documents. • Ability to prepare reports, requisitions, budget requests, and correspondence. • Ability to communicate effectively with County officials, contractors, staff, and the public. • Working knowledge of computer systems and standard office software. Physical Requirements • Ability to exert up to 25 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently. • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items up to 30 pounds. • Physical demands exceed those of sedentary work. Work Environment This position operates in both office and field environments. The Logistics Officer may be required to respond to emergency scenes and work extended hours during emergency incidents, special events, or other operational needs.
