“After retiring, Smith Medical Clinic gave me a meaningful way to continue caring for patients and giving back to my community.”
Smith Medical Clinic welcomes volunteer primary care providers of all specialties to join our mission of providing high-quality, compassionate care to uninsured adults in Georgetown County. Our greatest patient needs are in primary care, particularly for hypertension and diabetes management, but providers from all clinical backgrounds are encouraged to volunteer.
Why Volunteer at SMC?

A deeply satisfying experience, knowing your patients have the resources and follow-up needed to get better and stay healthy
Work alongside like-minded clinicians and volunteers who share deep compassion and a desire to give back
Full malpractice coverage provided by the clinic
Whether you can offer a few hours occasionally or a regular shift, you will be welcomed and appreciated any time you are able to serve.
