Johnson Named to SC Small Business Development Center’s Advisory Board

GREENVILLE, SC – The S.C.  Small Business Development Center (SC SBDC) has named Tammy Johnson, the owner of Liquid Catering and The Old Cigar Warehouse, to its advisory board.

The SC SBDC advances South Carolina’s economic development by assisting entrepreneurs start and grow successful businesses.  The board values integrity, commitment, professionalism, confidentiality, and accountability; all of which Johnson has demonstrated through her actions in the Greenville community.

Johnson started Liquid Catering in 2011 when she realized the need for a special event bartending company in Upstate SC.  Because of the demand, she quickly grew from a one-woman operation in her garage to having more than 50 employees with multiple venues.

In 2012, Johnson renovated a former auto repair shop in downtown Greenville and turned it into Liquid Catering’s headquarters.  A year later, she saw the opportunity for her second revitalization project.  She opened the Old Cigar Warehouse, an event venue located in a historic building in downtown Greenville.

Johnson’s entrepreneurial spirit goes beyond work as she is an active young leader in the community.

Because of her dedication to the community and her company’s extraordinary growth, Johnson was named the 2014 South Carolina Young Entrepreneur of the Year.  She served as the chairwoman of PULSE, the Greenville Chamber of Commerce’s young professionals group, served on the Chamber’s LEAD committee, and recognized as one of Greenville’s Best and Brightest under 35.  She served on the Chamber’s Finance Committee, where started a two-year term on the Board of Advisors this January and graduated from Leadership Greenville Class 39. She also won the 2014 U.S. Small Business Administration Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for South Carolina.

In 2012, Johnson was appointed to the City of Greenville Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee. She also serves as volunteer Bar Manager for Euphoria and is a member of the Upstate Bridal Association.
