Join the Movement: NAMIWalks Charleston returns October 11 to raise mental health awareness

August 20, 2025

NAMI Charleston invites the community to take a powerful step forward in the fight for mental health awareness at NAMIWalks Charleston, happening Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Palmetto Islands County Park (444 Needlerush Parkway, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464). The 5K event begins at 10 a.m. ET and is open to all ages and abilities.

NAMIWalks is more than just a walk—it’s a movement. Each step taken brings hope, resources, and support to individuals and families affected by mental illness in the Lowcountry. With the theme “Mental Health for All,” this year’s event celebrates inclusivity, community, and the power of coming together to break the stigma and promote access to care.

“In the Lowcountry, we don’t want to see anyone struggle in silence. When you volunteer, donate, or sponsor the Charleston Area NAMIWalk, you’re giving hope to families, strength to those living with mental illness, and a voice to those who feel unheard. Please join us on October 11th to help us ensure that no one in our community walks alone.” — Sharon Diamond, President, NAMI Charleston Area

Participants are encouraged to form teams, raise funds, volunteer, or donate. All proceeds support free local mental health programs, education, advocacy, and support groups provided by NAMI Charleston. Registration is free and open now at www.namiwalks.org/charlestonarea.

Whether you walk to honor a loved one, raise awareness, or simply show support, your presence matters. Join us for a day of community, connection, and hope. Together, we will demand victory over mental illness—one step at a time.
