If so, we invite you to be a part of The Quill & Well Amateur Writers Exchange, a brand-new initiative aimed at bringing together amateur writers from Laurens County and its surrounding areas. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 16th, starting at 7:00 pm, and will take place at the Laurens County Museum (116 S. Public Sq, Laurens).
A Meeting of Minds and Ink
The primary purpose of The Quill & Well Amateur Writers Exchange is to foster a welcoming environment for writers of all skill levels to meet, engage in constructive discussions, and explore various forms of literature. Whether you’re into fiction, prose, or poetry, this group is the perfect platform to share your passion and connect with like-minded individuals who share the same ardor for the written word.
The Format: An Interactive and Inclusive Approach
At each gathering, participating writers are encouraged to bring samples of their work on a flash drive in WORD format. We request submissions to be limited to 20 lines or less in 15 font size, ensuring everyone gets an opportunity to receive feedback and insights. During the meeting, all submitted works will be evaluated collectively by the group. This interactive approach aims to create a supportive atmosphere where writers can grow and refine their skills with the help of constructive criticism and valuable suggestions.
The Quest for the Best
As the meeting concludes, all members will participate in a friendly competition. Writers will have the chance to vote for the best overall work presented that evening. The winning piece will be displayed at the Laurens County Museum, granting the author a unique opportunity to have their work showcased in a prestigious cultural institution. Additionally, the winning piece will be featured on the museum’s official website, allowing writers to share their talent with a broader online audience.
