Jones elected South Carolina Bankers Association Chairman

Jennifer T. Jones, President and CEO, CBL State Savings Bank, Greer, SC, has been elected Chair of The South Carolina Bankers Association (SCBA). She was elected by a vote of SCBA members at their annual meeting and began serving her one-year term on July 1, 2024.

A South Carolina native, Mrs. Jones joined CBL State Savings Bank in 2000 as a Loan Officer after graduating from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. In January 2017, after earning positions of increasing responsibility, she was selected to be the first woman and only the ninth President and CEO of the 116-year-old organization.

Mrs. Jones has continued her education by completing the South Carolina Banking School, the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, and the Truist Leadership Insititute. In addition, she is also currently serving as Vice Chairman of ABA’s Community Bankers Council and a member of the Government Relations Council.

“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Jennifer for many years and have been impressed by her outstanding career and her dedication to the banking industry. We have been fortunate to have her active engagement as an officer of SCBA for the past three years and are excited about her leadership as our chair this year,” said SCBA President and CEO, Fred Green.

Jennifer Jones succeeds Boyd B. Jones, Senior Director, Middle Market Corporate Banking, Synovus in Columbia, SC.

Other newly installed officers and members for the 2024-25 fiscal year are Chair-Elect, Richard Sturm of Ameris Bank; First Vice Chair, Sammy Small, Jr. of First Palmetto Bank; Treasurer, Ted Nissen of First Community Bank; Midlands Group Director, Michael Edens of First Reliance Bank; Coastal Group Director, Mickey Renner of HomeTrust Bank; Coastal Group Director, Reeves Skeen of First Citizens Bank; and members-at-large Alex Brame of Truist Bank and Laurence Bolchoz of Coastal Carolina Bank.
