Junior Achievement volunteer opportunity: Budget simulator experience at Andrews and Waccamaw High Schools
January 26, 2026Junior Achievement of South Carolina is seeking volunteers in the Georgetown County area to support its JA Finance Park Mobile program. This initiative is a budgeting simulation designed for high school students, providing them with practical, hands-on experience in personal financial planning and career exploration.
The JA Finance Park Mobile program culminates in an interactive, on-site experience at a traveling mobile simulation. After completing a teacher-led curriculum, students from participating high schools will apply their knowledge in this real-world environment. The mobile simulation will visit two area high schools this spring, offering students a unique opportunity to engage in life-like financial decision-making scenarios.
Volunteer Roles and Dates
Christina Grindstaff, the JA Program Coordinator for Georgetown County, announced that volunteers are needed during the following weeks:
- March 16–20, 2026 – Andrews High School
- April 20–24, 2026 – Waccamaw High School
Volunteers will spend the time mentoring and guiding students as they navigate real-life financial challenges, helping them make informed decisions about managing money.
“We will provide the technology, tools and training for the volunteers for the week,” Grindstaff explained. “We’re looking for individuals willing to share their enthusiasm, time and experience to inspire these young people as they learn how to make more informed decisions about managing money.”
