Katie Johnston named Top 5 Teacher of the Year finalist

Charleston County School District announced the 2020-2021 Top 5 Teacher of the Year Finalists last month. This week we will introduce our last two finalists in an in-depth feature article and video highlighting their lives and careers.
Meet Katie Johnston, a Registered Architect and Project Lead The Way Instructor of Civil Engineering and Architecture. What started out as an annual volunteer opportunity for Johnston turned into an 11-year teaching position at Wando High School and now the East Cooper Center for Advanced Studies (CAS). She teaches Engineering Design and Development, Environmental Sustainability, and Introduction to Engineering Design and is the school’s first Teacher of the Year.
