Keep Laurens County Beautiful and LCWSC Expand Storm Drain Mural Project Across Laurens County

October 6, 2025

Keep Laurens County Beautiful (KLCB) and the Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission (LCWSC) are teaming up once again to expand the popular Storm Drain Mural Project, bringing more colorful and meaningful artwork to storm drains throughout Laurens County.

First launched in 2023, the murals have proven to be both visually striking and educational, reminding residents that what goes into our storm drains—whether litter, auto fluids, or yard chemicals—flows directly into our rivers, lakes, and streams. With this next round of murals, KLCB and LCWSC are building on that success and working to spread the “Drains to Streams—Keep It Clean” message countywide.

“These murals are more than art—they are powerful reminders of how everyday actions impact the health of our drinking water and environment,” said Jeff Field, Executive Director of LCWSC. “By turning storm drains into canvases, we’re sparking awareness in a creative and lasting way.”

KLCB Affiliate Coordinator Courtney Stonell echoed the excitement about this partnership. “We’re grateful for LCWSC’s leadership and commitment to this project,” Stonell said. “Together, we’re not only beautifying our communities but also educating people of all ages about the importance of clean waterways.”

Applications for the 2025 mural round are open now through December 10. Interested artists can apply and find full project details here: https://www.laurenscounty.org/storm-drain-art-project/

KLCB and LCWSC are also actively looking for new mural sites and sponsorship partners to help bring this initiative to more communities across Laurens County. Organizations interested in sponsoring a mural in their area can contact:
