Kindseth’s Double-Double Paces Blue Hose to Road Win Over Radford

Senior guard Paige Kindseth’s career-high double-double performance paces the Presbyterian Blue Hose (6-21, Big South: 4-10) to a 78-71 road win at the Radford Highlanders (12-15, Big South: 9-5) on Saturday afternoon.

Kindseth scored a career-high 28 points while grabbing a career-high tying 16 rebounds. Shelby Fiddler connected on five three-point field goals on her way to 17 points. Kishyah Anderson scored 11 points. Aminata Tal scored nine points off the bench. Laney Scoggins scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST QUARTER – Kindseth scored Presbyterian’s first eight points pushing the Blue Hose in front, 8-4, with 5;46 on the clock. After a layup from Daniella Velez the Blue Hose led 12-6 with three and a half minutes left in the quarter. Then, Radford scored four straight points. The Blue Hose scored five of the half’s final seven points taking a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter after a layup by Anderson with 22 ticks on the clock.

SECOND QUARTER—Radford began the quarter on an 18-0 run, taking a 30-17 lead with two and a half minutes on the clock. A three by Fiddler ended the Radford scoring run. The Blue Hose cut Radford’s halftime lead to 37-28 with a three by Fiddler at the halftime buzzer.

THIRD QUARTER – PC scored the first five points of the quarter behind a jumper from Kindseth and a three by Fiddler. After another pull-up jumper by Kindseth the Blue Hose cut Radford’s lead to 39-37 with 6:47 on the clock. The Highlanders would push their lead to five points, 45-39, with 4:17 on the clock. A three from Fiddler and two free throws by Anderson got the Blue Hose within one point, 45-44. Radford scored inside pushing their lead back to three points. Presbyterian cut the lead to one point a couple of times. With Radford leading 51-48, Tal scored the final five points of the half including banking in a three at the buzzer giving the Blue Hose a 53-51 lead.

FOURTH QUARTER – Tal continued her scoring run with the first basket of the quarter. Radford cut Presbyterian’s lead to two points at 55-53. The Blue Hose responded by scoring six of the next seven points taking a 61-54 lead after two free throws from Anderson with 6:34 on the clock. After a layup from Scoggins the Blue Hose increased their lead to 71-61 with 2:28 left. Radford cut Presbyterian’s lead to six points with 52 seconds on the clock. Timely free throw shooting by Tal and Anderson closed out Presbyterian’s road win.
