K&L Gates’ Charleston office welcomes new associate Jennifer Urban

K&L Gates’ Charleston office welcomed Jennifer “Jenny” A. Urban as an associate in the firm’s banking & asset finance practice group. In addition to Charleston, Jenny will also practice out of our New York office.
Jenny’s practice primarily is focused in the aviation industry, including: aviation finance and leasing; international finance; the purchase and sale of corporate aircraft; and aviation regulatory compliance with laws, policies, and regulations administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).
Jenny also advises clients on regulatory and other legal issues relating to commercial uses of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS)/drones. Jenny has passed the FAA’s aeronautical knowledge test, earning her Remote Pilot – Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems license. K&L Gates is one of the few firms with a drone attorney who holds this license.
In addition to her aviation practice, she counsels clients on U.S. export controls and trade sanctions, customs regulations, maritime competitor communications, and international antitrust issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Jenny served as an associate at a full-service international law firm in Washington, DC. Jenny received both her LL.M. in Air and Space Law and J.D. from University of Mississippi School of Law and both her M.B.A. and B.A. from the University of Mississippi in 2016, 2015, 2013, and 2011, respectively.
