Kopis and American Cancer Society are teaming up for Real Men Wear Pink TopGolf Tournament
September 5, 2019The annual American Cancer Society Real Men Wear Pink campaign is taking a new swing in October 2019.
Kopis and the local chapter of American Cancer Society have come together for the first Real Men Wear Pink TopGolf Tournament to help raise funds for cancer research. The event will take place on Thursday, October 24 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at TopGolf Greenville, 201 Clifton Acres, which is off of Pelham Road and I-85. Andrew Kurtz, CEO and President of Kopis, said the software company wanted to do more for Real Men Wear Pink this year after one its software engineers, Barry Jones, passed away from carcinoma in February.
“Barry was a good friend and a great human being,” Kurtz said. “He grew up here and touched so many people’s lives that we wanted to do this for him in his memory.”
Real Men Wear Pink is an annual fall fundraiser where local business and community leaders spend roughly six weeks raising money for cancer research and support services, said Kelly Jamerson, corporate relations manager for the American Cancer Society in Greenville.
“The men are encouraged to wear a visible piece of pink clothing every day during the campaign to help raise awareness,” Jamerson said.
The campaign is going into its 3rd year in Greenville, and more than $100,000 has been raised to date to support breast cancer research, patient services and prevention. The 20 members of this campaign will be announced later in the month.
The TopGolf tournament offers several ways for people to take part. The VIP Experience includes prime seating and location right next to all the action on the outside patio where the majority of spectators will be watching the tournament. The VIP Experience allows for couch seating, signage at the bay, team gifts per player and two Mulligans per team as well as a $400 donation towards a chosen Real Men Wear Pink candidate’s fundraising goal.
The VIP Experience also includes two hours of game time, three drink tickets and a full buffet dinner per player, opportunity to include item in player gift bags as well as a $400 donation to a chosen Real Men Wear Pink’s fundraising goal, which is the same offering as the Team Package.
There also will be solo player tickets that include registration for one player and is accompanied with three house drinks, (liquor, beer/ wine), as well as two hours of game play on an assorted team of six total players and a full buffet dinner and a $50 donation to American Cancer Society.
In addition to the players, 125 spectator tickets will be sold as well. TopGolf’s Fajita Fiesta dinner buffet is open for all ticket holders. This dinner option includes steak & chicken fajitas, peppers, cilantro savory rice, chipotle braised black beans, tortillas (Gluten Free available upon request), chips, salsa and pico de gallo, sour cream, and shredded cheese. Dessert will be chocolate chip cookie bites.
There will be music, corn hole and beer pong game in the courtyard as well as covered high top and lounge seating and waiters serving drinks. Spectators can additionally buy tickets for the Hole in One and try their chance at winning a $10,000 cash prize.
“Our region is growing tremendously, but in many ways it remains a small community at heart,” Kurtz said. “This tournament is way to recognize that community and help it come together for a good cause.”
