Krab Kingz Seafood grand opening
April 21, 2022City of Columbia and Columbia Chamber representatives welcomed Columbia’s newest seafood restaurant with a grand opening on April 21, 2022 at 11 a.m. Long-time friends Delane Garner and David Sambrone-Darkins own the restaurant, which is a franchise location of the Houston-based company Krab Kingz Seafood.
Both Garner and Sambrone-Darkins have strong ties to the Columbia community. Garner started to call the area home during his military service at Fort Jackson, while Sambrone-Darkins’ wife and daughter are natives of Columbia.
In order to give back to their community, Garner says, “We plan to hire local residents, offer competitive wages, and help staff grow and achieve their goals. Our plan is to be part of the community and engage with youth sports, churches, schools, and nonprofit organizations that help the people of Columbia.”
Ayesha Driggers, Deputy Director of Columbia’s Office of Business Opportunities began the event. She stated the partnerships Krab Kingz formed with the city and the Columbia Chamber of Commerce are “a testament to the value of a strong business ecosystem in the city.”
Executive Vice President of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce Henri Baskins was next to speak at the event, saying “When you come to this area, we want to know that we have done everything we can to make your business a success, and I am so glad that you shared with me earlier that we did just that.”
Mayor Daniel Rickenmann and Councilman Edward McDowell represented the City of Columbia at the grand opening, expressing their congratulations to the new owners and their continued hopes for the community.
“Congratulations to Delane and David on this new venture,” said Mayor Rickenmann. “As an entrepreneur myself, I love seeing other people taking the leap and making the most of the opportunity in our communities. On behalf of the City of Columbia, we are excited to announce that Krab Kingz is open for business!”
Councilman McDowell stated that this grand opening, “will show others that when you partner with others our city continues to grow, and will grow. Small businesses are an economic driver within our municipality.”
The city is glad to have so many businesses like Krab Kingz opening all across Columbia.
