Krystal Klear Productions to host a cultural heritage event to celebrate 100 Years of Black History

February 23, 2026

Krystal Klear Productions will be hosting its Black History Soul Meet and Eat on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. at Movement School Bridge View (4275 Bridge View Drive, North Charleston, SC 29405). Attendees can enjoy Lowcountry eats, networking, expressive art forms, vendors, black history trivia, prizes, and a black history basket giveaway, which will consist of items centered around black history and from local black-owned businesses.

This family-friendly event is purposed to celebrate Black History Month by showcasing African American or black artists, businesses, and culture by highlighting Lowcountry foods, edutaining through trivia, and more. The featured artists and educators represent different generations and artistic backgrounds. This year marks 100 years of celebrating black history with the 2026 theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations.” It is suggested that attendees wear casual African attire, especially if they would like to participate in the community fashion show added to the event this year.

D’Jaris Whipper-Lewis is a soprano soloist, pianist, and flute player who has performed with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus and Gospel Chorus and in several concerts for the Piccolo Spoleto Festival and MOJA Arts Festival. Over the years, she appeared in the Town and Gown Theatre production of Porgy and Bess, Birmingham, recorded “Summertime” for the 100th Anniversary Documentary of George Gershwin, German Television, and headlined in Charleston Stage’s production of “Ain’t Misbehavin’.” Her performances are played on South Carolina Educational Radio. Whipper-Lewis usually attends the event every year but will be the featured artist of song this year. Antonio Rivers also known as Shakespeare the Artist has been a visual artist for more than 20 years who specializes in acrylic painting, seeing himself as a modern-day poet on canvas and wood. He takes complex ideas and artistically extracts their most important features to create lifelike images. He uses his artistic talent as a healing mechanism and therapeutic platform. Shakespeare the Artist will develop a live visual art creation centered on black history during the event. Pleshette Grant, founder of Entrepreneur Centers for Youth’s (EC Youth) Learn Earn, Earn Learn (L.E.E.L.) Initiative, will educate attendees on financial literacy. Bernard King, who manages the L.E.E.L. Youth Community Garden, will present a lesson on gardening. As a featured artist from previous years, Wona Womalan West African Drum & Dance Ensemble will provide an interactive drum and dance performance with audience participation.

A portion of event proceeds will benefit a local non-profit school, Movement School Bridge View, which will assist students in enhancing their education. Movement Schools are public, non-profit charter schools. In partnership with their families, staff equip scholars with the tools to close generational gaps through self-efficacy, access to world-class instruction, and financial education. Krystal Klear Productions Founder and CEO Krystal Yeadon stated “Hosting and giving back to this school through the Black History Soul Meet & Eat and Krystal Klear Kares, the giveback branch of my company, allows me to intertwine my heart’s passion for children, education, and the arts in a creative way.”

Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6-17, and free for children ages 5 and under. Children admissions include a black history activity book while supplies last. The books contain coloring pages, educational activities, and bios about historical African American figures. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite under Black History Soul Meet & Eat or at KrystalKlearProductions.com under upcoming projects.
