Ladies of the Lake Bring 1950s Fun to Laurens County Memorial Home

On September 11, the Ladies of the Lake brought smiles, music, and sweet treats to the Laurens County Memorial Home with their event, “The Hop to the Home.”
Dressed in colorful poodle skirts, the ladies set the tone for a nostalgic afternoon as a DJ filled the room with classic hits from the 1950s. Residents enjoyed an ice cream social, laughter, and plenty of opportunities to join in the fun.
Many residents clapped, sang along, and even danced—one spirited participant even rolling her wheelchair onto the dance floor to join the celebration. The joy was contagious, with staff and visitors noting how much the music and fellowship lifted everyone’s spirits.
“This was more fun than we’ve had in a long time,” several residents shared, smiling between songs and ice cream cones.
The Ladies of the Lake created an afternoon full of warmth and community, reminding everyone that joy can be found in simple pleasures, good company, and a little rock ’n’ roll.
