Lady Devils End Season with a Win

April 28, 2021

The Lady Devils played an amazing match against one of the best teams in the upper state tonight.

Woodruff game into Clinton for game 2 of the season, after winning the first match 5-0.  The Clinton girls stood firm throughout the match and had the scoreboard 1-1 at the half.  An own-goal against Clinton made the score 2-1 and that’s where it stayed until the final whistle.  It was performance that highlights the growth of this very young program. The entire defense was awarded the Golden clear along with the entire offense winning the attacking award.

“The improvement of these young ladies is hard to put into words,” said coach Scottie Benson. “I am excited about and can’t wait to see how far we can go next season.”

The last three times they faced Woodruff the score was 6-0, 6-3, and 5-0, then tonight they took them to the wire.  Between 2 matches with Chapman and 1 with Woodruff (the two top teams in region) they only gave up 3 scored goals in those 3 matches (the losses came off of own goals).
