Lakeside Lodge Clemson selects Sherman Construction as general contractor for condo hotel development
March 22, 2018Lakeside Lodge Clemson announced that it has selected Sherman Construction as the general contractor for the luxury condo hotel project. The project is set to break ground later this spring.
Lakeside Lodge Clemson will feature 118 residences with a mix of studio, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom condos on Lake Hartwell right across from Clemson University. Amenities will include a food and beverage service, a pool and hot tub, walking paths, fire pit, football field, outdoor tailgating areas, meeting space, signature restaurant and fitness facilities. The condo hotel will feature modified hotel services such as housekeeping and maintenance, so owners can enjoy time at their lake homes without the hassle of ownership. Additionally, owners will have the option of generating income by utilizing the resort’s professionally managed short-term rental program to lease their units for the night, weekend or week at a time.
“We are excited to be working with Sherman to bring this project to life,” said Steve Mudge, president and CEO of Allie Capital LLC, one of the developers of the project. “With almost 70 years of experience, and being locally owned and operated, we were confident that Sherman would be a great partner for this project. We look forward to getting started.”
Sherman Construction has been providing unparalleled construction services since its founding in 1949. Over the last decade, Sherman has grown significantly by focusing on multifamily developments, senior living and health care, as well as a strong focus on the higher education sector.
“Sherman Construction is thrilled to be a partner on this project. We are humbled to have been entrusted by Steve and Leighton to bring their dream to life,” commented Andy Sherman, president, Sherman Construction.
The team behind this project consists of Mudge and his Allie Capital partner, Leighton Cubbage, along with Southern Resort Group and Sundog Development Company. The same team is behind the successful and sold out Residences at Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina, which is a similar condo resort project. Mudge and Cubbage have previously worked together on two other residential developments – Falls at Meehan in Pendleton, South Carolina, and Creekside Village in Weaverville, North Carolina.
The architect for the project is Goodwyn Mills and Cawood, Inc. (GMC). GMC is one of the region’s largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms. Founded in 1947, the firm has grown to more than 375 employees with offices throughout the Southeast.
