Lander School of Business to Begin New Eaton Job Shadowing Program
August 8, 2025The School of Business at Lander University and Eaton Corporation, a global power management company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, have announced a new strategic partnership that will provide significant learning opportunities and employment pathways for Lander business students. This new partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic and experiential learning at Lander, while providing Eaton’s Greenwood facilities with a steady stream of Lander students interested in production supervision roles.
“Eaton has been a strong supporter of our business students for many years,” said Dr. Gail Moore, associate dean for the School of Business at Lander. “Their development of the Job Shadowing Program is yet another meaningful demonstration of their ongoing commitment to student success. As the internship director for the School of Business, I see first-hand how important experiential learning is for our students. Experiences like this—learning directly from professionals in the field—are irreplaceable and offer insights that extend far beyond the classroom. This experience will prepare our students and provide them with the practical knowledge they need for business careers after graduation.”
The program is set to launch in the 2025-26 academic year, and the first group of participants will be selected to begin working during the Fall 2025 semester. Lander students will apply for the program and receive placement based on the strength of their application, degree program and future career goals. During the experience, Lander students will receive individualized mentorship from Eaton’s team, while also working closely with Lander’s business faculty to relate their workplace experiences to classroom learning. Those who complete the job shadowing program successfully will receive college credit from Lander and have a strong potential future with Eaton.
“Eaton is thrilled to partner with Lander on this incredible opportunity,” said Eaton PDCA Plant Human Resources Manager Jessica James. “We hope to inspire students and mentor them on their career outlook and we look forward to growing our continued partnership with Lander University.”
University administrators say this partnership underscores Lander’s commitment to providing students with experiential learning opportunities, which help graduates seamlessly transition from college classrooms into future careers. The program also builds upon the strong relationships that exist between the School of Business and the region’s industry leaders.
“Workforce preparation is at the very core of everything we do at Lander University,” said Dr. Lloyd Willis, dean of the College of Business and Technology at Lander. “Eaton is an exciting company that plays a pivotal role in our local, regional and state economies, and we are excited about this opportunity to place our students in Eaton facilities. There is no better way to learn about this industry and the opportunities that exist within it than becoming a part of it in an experience like this one.”
