Speaker Bio:
Dr. Franklin Rausch received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia and is a professor in Lander’s Department of History and Philosophy. His research focuses on Korean history, and he has published on a variety of topics, including Catholic martyrdom in nineteenth-century Korea, Korean Catholic responses to COVID-19, and the role of South Carolinian Frederick Jenkins’ in the bizarre 1868 attempt to steal the bones of a Korean king’s grandfather in order to force the country to open up to trade.
In his spare time, Rausch enjoys playing video games with his wife and their two sons. He volunteers at Ninety Six as a living historian, serving on the swivel gun crew.
