Langley Hoyt Wins Junior League of Greenville 2015 Young Women’s Writing Contest
May 14, 2015GREENVILLE, SC – The Junior League of Greenville announced that Langley Hoyt is the winner of the 2015 Young Women’s Writing Contest. Hoyt’s essay was about her mission trip to the Dominican Republic where she met the Dominican ambassador to the United States. She talks about her experience in the Dominican and her interaction with children who live in poverty.
“I am very glad that I chose to enter this contest,” Langley Hoyt said. “I am honored to be chosen as the winner and am so glad that I was able to share what I learned from my experiences in the Dominican.”
The Young Women’s Contest is open to female students in Greenville County public, private and home school programs in grades six through twelve. The students are asked to write a 750-1200 word essay about a personal experience that helped them better understand another person. The winner receives a $500 scholarship award provided by First Southern Bank and the essay is featured in the Junior League of Greenville’s VISIONS magazine.

Hoyt is a senior at J.L. Mann High School. She serves as vice president of the Art Club and volunteers with the National Honor Society.
