Last Call for Tickets: Laurens County Museum’s 20th Birthday Gala
August 18, 2025The Laurens County Museum’s 20th Birthday Gala is almost here, and this is the final call to secure your tickets for an evening of celebration and community support on Saturday, August 23.
This milestone gala will not only highlight the museum’s achievements over the past two decades but also shine a light on the financial challenges it faces in continuing its mission. It costs $650 a day just to keep the museum open—covering only the basics such as utilities, insurance, and minimal staffing. Despite the museum’s role as a cultural cornerstone for Laurens County, operational funding remains a serious concern.
Grant funding, while vital, is restricted to specific projects and cannot be used for daily operations. That means core needs like staffing, insurance, and keeping the lights on rely heavily on community support. Volunteers remain the backbone of the museum, but additional staff is desperately needed.
Beyond operations, the museum is also staring down urgent repair and maintenance projects. A major basement projectis planned to address water issues and ensure artifacts are safely stored while protecting the building’s foundation. Another critical priority is constructing an emergency exit ramp from the Magnolia Room, a costly but essential safety measure.
The gala will be a night of entertainment, fellowship, and giving, offering the community a chance to come together in celebration while directly investing in the preservation of local history.
Tickets are still available but limited—this is the last call to reserve your spot.
