Laurens Academy’s Nathan Bell Named Player of the Week After Stellar Performance in Overtime Win
November 18, 2024The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on November 15th, the Player of the week is linebacker and tight end and junior Nathan Bell of Laurens Academy.
Bell is the junior defensive linebacker and tight end who led Laurens Academy to a dramatic 34 – 28 overtime win over Jefferson Davis Academy on the road in Blackville, SC last Friday night. LA will play Richard Winn for the 8-man SCISA State Title this Friday night to be played at a neutral site at W W King Academy in Batesburg, SC.
Nathan Bell is a Laurens Academy junior for the Crusaders who lead the team defensively with 18 total tackles, one sack, 4.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Bell played every snap on the offensive line that gained over 350 yards from scrimmage.
Head Coach Jolly Doolittle stated, “Nathan is a tireless worker and a relentless competitor. He has played nearly every snap of every game. He is a team-first guy and a true throwback player. The tougher it gets the better he is!”
The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Bell on November 21st at the bi-monthlyTouchdown Club meeting. The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens. Player of the Week awards is presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County in 2024.
The November 21st meeting will be the annual South Carolina and Clemson University Touchdown Club meeting celebration with Chet Tucker-USC chief sideline reporter and Don Munson-voice of the Clemson Tigers, as our featured speakers. The Farm Bureau Insurance “Player of the Week’ awards will be presented for the November 1, 8 and 15 High School football games as well.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am. Whiteford’s of Laurens will be catering the meal on November 21st.
