Laurens City Council Confirms Ira Bedenbaugh to CPW Commissioner Seat

October 1, 2025

On Tuesday, September 30, the Laurens City Council held a called meeting to confirm a new commissioner for the Laurens Commission of Public Works.

Before the confirmation process began, Mayor Nathan Senn informed council members that the matter was no longer contested.
“Before we continue, I want to tell council that this matter is now uncontested, as I received a letter from the other candidate that was interested, indicating that he was no longer interested in pursuing the seat,” Senn announced.

With only one candidate remaining, council proceeded to confirm Ira Bedenbaugh to the position. The vote passed with Councilor Marian Millier casting the sole “no” vote. Councilor Alicia Sullivan was not in attendance.

Following adjournment of the meeting, Mayor Senn officially swore Bedenbaugh into office, marking the start of his service as a commissioner of the Laurens Commission of Public Works.
