Laurens County Animal Control Shelter Seeks Donations to Help Pets Stay Warm During Extreme Weather

January 21, 2026

As extreme cold weather is expected this weekend, the Laurens County Sheriff’s Animal Control Shelter is asking for the community’s help to ensure vulnerable animals have a warm and safe place to shelter.

The shelter is currently accepting donations of straw and dog houses, which can be dropped off today or tomorrow at the Laurens County Animal Control Shelter. Shelter staff and volunteers plan to go out into the community to stuff dog houses with straw and place them where they are needed most.

In addition to donations, the shelter encourages residents who know of an animal in urgent need of a warm place to rest to contact Animal Control directly. The shelter will work to arrange delivery of supplies when possible.

Shelter officials noted that assistance will be provided to as many animals as possible, depending on the number of donations received.

Those needing help or wishing to donate can contact the Laurens County Animal Control Shelter at (864) 682-4935 or by email to [email protected].

Community members are encouraged to help if they are able, as even small contributions can make a meaningful difference for animals during periods of extreme cold.
