Laurens County Chamber to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies for Blessing Box Initiative

July 23, 2024

The Leadership Laurens County (LLC) Class XXIV proudly announces the ribbon cutting ceremonies for their Blessing Box initiative.  Each LLC Class works together on a project chosen and collaborated by the classmates. The graduating class of 2024 developed and implemented a Laurens County Blessing Box initiative.    This project aims to address food and hygiene insecurities by providing essential items to those in need.

The ribbon cutting events will take place on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at three key locations:

9:00 AM – Christ Central Mission Station-Joanna, 710 Magnolia St. Joanna, SC 29351

10:15 AM – United Ministries of Clinton, 500 Academy St. Clinton, SC 29325

11:00 AM – Straight Street Youth Center, 220 W Main St. Laurens, SC 29360

These three locations were selected by the class in efforts to reach people that may need a small “Blessing.”  The Blessing Boxes provide accessible and well-maintained boxes at strategic community locations, sustained by local volunteers and partner organizations. The mission is to add to the many efforts across Laurens County to ensure reliable access to nutritious food and hygiene items for those in need, fostering a network of support through collaboration with local organizations and volunteers. Chris Callahan, Leadership participant, expressed excitement and commented, “We envision a future where no one in Laurens County experiences hunger, and everyone has access to essential items.  Although these boxes, alone, will not accomplish this goal, they hopefully will help.”

Leadership Laurens County, a ten-month program under the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, has trained over 450 local business leaders in the past 42 years. The program aims to develop informed, committed leaders capable of addressing community needs.

Join us on July 30 to celebrate the launch of the Blessing Box initiative and witness the start of a project making a meaningful impact in our community.
