Laurens County Community Theatre Announces Cast for Smoke on the Mountain

The Laurens County Community Theatre (LCCT) has announced the cast for its upcoming production of Smoke on the Mountain, set to take the stage this June. Following a successful round of auditions, a talented ensemble has been selected to bring the beloved gospel musical to life.
The cast lineup is as follows:
- Burl – Lesslie Blakely (also co-director)
- Vera – Ruth McDaniel (also music director)
- Stanley – Jacob Blakely
- Dennis – Silas Schiera
- Denise – Lizzie Davidson
- June – Corbitt Landrum
- Mervin Oglethorpe – Holly Hollingshead
LCCT expressed gratitude to all who auditioned, emphasizing the enthusiasm and talent that made the selection process both challenging and rewarding.
“We’re thrilled with the cast and can’t wait for audiences to experience this uplifting and entertaining production,” said co-director Kay Addison.
Set in a rural North Carolina church in 1938, Smoke on the Mountain follows the Sanders Family Singers as they lead a spirited evening of music and storytelling. The musical, filled with bluegrass and gospel favorites, blends humor, heart, and faith in a way that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Auditions for the show were announced in February, with LCCT inviting performers to bring their musical and acting talents to the stage. Now, with casting complete, rehearsals are underway as the cast and crew prepare to deliver a show filled with toe-tapping tunes and heartfelt moments.
