Laurens County Community to Walk with Student Doctors

July 22, 2024

The community of Laurens County has a unique opportunity to combine health and education this Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10 AM. Students from VCOM, the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, are hosting a “Walk with the Student Docs” event at The Ridge, located at 301 Exchange Road, Laurens, SC. This event aims to bring residents together to get active and learn about combating cardiovascular disease.

This educational walk is not only a chance for exercise but also a platform for the community to engage with future medical professionals. Participants will benefit from the knowledge and insights shared by the VCOM students, who are conducting a research study during the event. The total activity time is expected to be two hours, and individuals can choose to partake in the research project or simply enjoy the walk.

The walk is designed to highlight the importance of physical activity in maintaining cardiovascular health. It offers a practical and interactive way for community members to learn about heart health while fostering a sense of community spirit.

For those interested in joining the walk or seeking more information, additional details are available in the event flyer. This initiative underscores the commitment of VCOM students to community health and their dedication to applying their medical training in real-world settings.
