Laurens County Democratic Party Announces County Convention Keynote Speakers Highlighting Leadership, Representation, and Community Commitment
February 24, 2026The Laurens County Democratic Party is proud to announce an exciting lineup of speakers for its County Convention on March 14, 2026 at the Laurens
County Agriculture Center, featuring two dynamic leaders shaping the future of South Carolina politics.
The keynote speaker will be Christale Spain, Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party. Spain made history as the first Black woman to serve in this role, bringing a powerful voice for affordability, equity, inclusion, and grassroots organizing across the state. As chair, she has focused on strengthening local parties, expanding voter engagement, and building a Democratic Party that reflects the diversity and values of South Carolina.
Also speaking will be Michanna Tate, Democratic candidate for South Carolina Representative District 14. Tate is a respected local business owner and attorney whose campaign centers on economic opportunity, access to justice, and strong support for working families. Her candidacy represents a new generation of leadership rooted in professional expertise and deep community ties.

The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend, engage, and learn more about the candidates and issues shaping upcoming elections.
Attendees will elect precinct-level members of the County Executive Committee, the body responsible for determining the budget and priorities of the LCDP. The convention offers a pathway to state-level engagement. Attendees will be eligible to become delegates to the
South Carolina Democratic Party Convention on May 30th.All registered voters who self-identify as Democrats in Laurens County are eligible to run for any of the available positions.
