Laurens County Diaper Drives Help Parents in Need
October 26, 2022The cost of many things has increased, and diapers is certainly one of them.
In July 2021, Bloomberg reported that the cost of Pampers went from about $25 for 200 to $40 for 168 in just six months. On a per-unit basis, that amounts to a 90% increase, and it’s only climbed higher since. In June 2022, a box of 168 Pampers cost around $60 at Walmart. That’s nearly 184% more per unit than the price Bloomberg reported in November 2020.
The Laurens County Diaper Drives launched earlier this month are providing free diapers and wipes for those in need.
The second county wide Diaper Drive was held on Monday in the parking lot of First Baptist Church in Laurens. Cars started coming through right as the drive started and continued until noon. Several people mentioned that they came to the first Diaper Drive in Clinton and how much they appreciated the help with diapers and wipes.
Carolina Pregnancy Center (CPC) from Spartanburg is partnering with Westminster Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church for this initiative and is onsite with their mobile unit providing free pregnancy testing or ultrasounds as needed. Other Laurens County churches are welcomed to participate.

The next Diaper Drive will be held on November 15 from 10 am – noon in Clinton in the Victory Worship Center Parking Lot (at intersection of Highway 76 E and Springdale Drive).
Distribution will be limited to one pack of diapers and wipes per child with a max of two children per household. Parents will be required to show personal identification and provide the child’s name and verification of custody/birth. Appropriate identification includes parent or guardian photo id (a copy will be made) and could be one of the following to show verification of custody: birth certificate, WIC, or Medicaid card for child, foster care/custody paperwork, daycare/school ID.
You can support this community initiative with a donation of diapers (any size) or wipes.
