Laurens County Entrepreneur Launches “Relentless” Podcast

October 8, 2020

The challenges of owning a small business and surviving beyond the first five years is something that keeps many from even getting started.

“To be successful as a small business owner you have to be relentless,” said Dan Wilson, an Edward Jones Financial Advisor located in Laurens.  “That’s why I launched the Relentless podcast as a platform for small business owners to be heard and collaborate with others.”

The podcast name is fitting for sure.

Dan Wilson

Relentless – showing or promising no abatement of severity, intensity, strength, or pace: unrelenting.

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 20% of U.S. small businesses fail within the first year. By the end of their fifth year, roughly 50% have faltered. After 10 years, only around a third of businesses have survived.

“Owning and running a successful small business is full of challenges and opportunities,” said Wilson.  “The podcast is a place for small business owners to share their nuggets of wisdom from hands on experience or trial and error, and to celebrate successes and support each other.”

The first Relentless podcast featured Laurens Mayor Nathan Senn. The conversation covered the struggles, successes, and stories of a big city attorney who moved his practice back to his hometown to give his life’s work a more personal touch. Click here to listen.

Next up was an interview with the publisher of the LaurensCountyBUZZ, Brenda Stewart.  Brenda introduced listeners to the new Laurens County news source that includes a website and eNewsletter reaching thousands of subscribers every Tuesday and Thursday. Click here to listen.
