Laurens County First Steps Announces “Find the Pig” Scavenger Hunt During Squealin’ on the Square

September 24, 2023

Get ready for the Laurens County First Steps pig event during Squealin’ on the Square on October 6-7.

The pigs will be scattered around Laurens Square. Each pig has a special collar with instructions to find the First Steps office. If you find one of the 100 lost pink pigs, bring it back to them at 1029 West Main Street, Monday – Thursday from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. In return, you’ll receive a children’s book generously donated by the Toys for Tots Literacy Program. Let’s bring the pigs back home! We’d hate for them to be taken to market.

Laurens County First Steps is a local nonprofit working to ensure all children start school prepared. We engage families, caregivers, and community partners to improve early childhood development from before birth to age five. We also connect and bring together early childhood stakeholders in Laurens County.

The Toys for Tots Literacy Program, established in 2008, provides economically disadvantaged children with access to books and educational resources to enhance their reading and communication skills. Literacy is crucial for a child’s learning, interactions, and future work success. The program brings joy to reading for less fortunate children and helps break the cycle of poverty.
