Laurens County Safe Home Announces October Events to Raise Awareness and Support Survivors
August 12, 2025Laurens County Safe Home will mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October with two special events aimed at raising funds, educating the community, and honoring survivors. This year also marks a milestone—40 years of providing advocacy, shelter, and hope to survivors of domestic violence in Laurens County.
5K Run/Walk – Saturday, October 18
The month’s activities will kick off with a 5K Run/Walk in partnership with CrossFit864 on Saturday, October 18, at 207 W. Pitts Street in Clinton. The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. and all proceeds will benefit local domestic violence victims. Participants of all fitness levels are welcome, and sponsorships are available to support the event.
Bring One, Wear One Annual Luncheon – Tuesday, October 28
The signature Bring One, Wear One Annual Luncheon will take place on Tuesday, October 28, at The Ballroom Weddings and Events venue, 241 S. Harper Street Extension in Laurens. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
This year’s luncheon will feature keynote speaker Tanisha Bagley, an acclaimed author, national public speaker, and lifelong advocate for survivors of domestic violence, rape, and sexual assault. Known for her resilience and compelling storytelling, Bagley has inspired audiences nationwide with her journey of survival and advocacy.
In keeping with tradition, attendees are asked to bring new, unused undergarments to donate. Tickets are $40 per person, with 100% of proceeds directly benefiting survivors of domestic violence. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, offering benefits such as recognition in event programs, logo placement, and reserved seating.
