Laurens County to Honor Veterans with Veterans Day Ceremony and Unveiling of Newly Installed Veterans Monuments

Laurens County will host a Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday, November 11, at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park, 1017 W. Main Street in Laurens. The event will pay tribute to local veterans from all branches of the military and include the unveiling of new Veterans monuments, along with special guest speakers, elected officials, and military leaders.

The ceremony will begin with a flag-raising and welcome by Laurens Mayor Nathan Senn, followed by a presentation of colors by American Legion Post 25. The program will feature representatives from each branch of the military, the playing of the National Anthem, and the unveiling of the newly installed Veterans monuments. At 11 a.m., a moment of reflection will be observed with the playing of Taps in remembrance of Armistice Day.

Remarks from South Carolina Senator Danny Verdin will precede the keynote address, setting the stage for Command Sergeant Major Doug Gilliam, who is expected to share words of reflection and gratitude for the service of veterans across all military branches.

The event will conclude with additional remarks from Laurens County leaders, including County Council Chairman Brown Patterson, who shared, “This ceremony is a small way for us to show our gratitude and respect for the sacrifices made by our veterans. The unveiling of the new monuments is a testament to our community’s ongoing commitment to honor their legacy.”
