Laurens County Touchdown Club Names Will Thompson as Player of the Week for November 1st Games

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that, for games played on November 1st, the Player of the Week is quarterback and senior leader Will Thompson of Laurens District High School. Despite a hard-fought loss to region rival Emerald High School in Greenwood, with a final score of 26–17, Thompson showcased exceptional performance and leadership.

As the senior quarterback for the Raiders, Thompson completed 9 passes out of 15 attempts, totaling 176 yards, including a remarkable 50-yard touchdown pass. He also contributed with a rushing touchdown, highlighting his versatility and dedication on the field.

Head Coach Greg Porter praised Thompson’s resilience, stating, “Will has demonstrated leadership and toughness for the Raiders this season. Although the journey hasn’t been easy for him, he continues to give his best every day and every game. He continues to do whatever it takes to help this program lay a strong foundation for next season.”

The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Thompson on November 21st at its bi-monthly meeting held at The Ridge in Laurens. This meeting will feature the annual South Carolina and Clemson University “Touchdown Club Clash,” with USC’s chief sideline reporter Chet Tucker and Clemson’s play-by-play voice Don Munson as guest speakers. Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County sponsors the Player of the Week awards, which will also be presented for games played on November 1, 8, and 15.

The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge, located at 301 Exchange Road in Laurens. Meetings begin at noon, with tickets available at the door for $15. Whiteford’s of Laurens will cater the November 21st meeting, and the public is invited to join in celebrating local high school football talent and community spirit.
