Laurens Fire Department Recognized Among State’s Most Fit Departments

The City of Laurens is highlighting the dedication and discipline of its firefighters—not just in emergency response, but in their commitment to staying physically prepared for the demands of the job.

In recent fitness testing conducted by Fitness Forum, members of the Laurens Fire Department demonstrated significant progress and impressive results. Out of 19 firefighters tested, nearly half achieved elite fitness levels, with additional members expected to reach that benchmark in the coming months.

Notably, every participant showed improvement compared to last year’s results. One firefighter recorded a remarkable increase of 12.6 points, reflecting the department’s ongoing focus on training, wellness, and personal accountability.

According to Fitness Forum, the Laurens Fire Department now ranks among the top five most fit fire departments they evaluate across South Carolina—an achievement that speaks to the team’s collective effort and commitment.

City officials say the results underscore the importance of physical readiness in public safety roles and reflect the culture of excellence within the department.
