LCWSC’s Gene Steele Honored as 2025 Wastewater Collections Operator of the Year
November 21, 2025The Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission (LCWSC) is celebrating a major accomplishment this week as longtime team member Gene Steele has been named the 2025 Wastewater Collections Operator of the Year by the South Carolina Rural Water Association (SCRWA).
Steele received the award during the SCRWA Annual Conference, which recognizes outstanding performance and professionalism among water and wastewater professionals across the state.
With nearly 30 years of service to LCWSC, Steele has become an essential part of the Commission’s operations. His technical expertise, reliability, and commitment to maintaining the county’s wastewater infrastructure have made him a trusted leader among colleagues and a valued resource to the community.
LCWSC Executive Director Jeff Field said the award is a fitting recognition of Steele’s long-standing commitment to excellence.
