Leadership Greenville launches “Where the Trail Am I?” Campaign

GREENVILLE, SC – March 31, 2014 – Users of the Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail will notice some changes in the coming weeks that will make their trail experience better thanks to a Leadership Greenville Class 40 project.

The “Where the Trail Am I?” project is a multifaceted campaign to promote an even more enjoyable and safer experience along the Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail. After surveying more than 500 trail users, a project team of 18 community and business leaders decided on a three-pronged approach: make trail and local business information more accessible; improve the user’s ability to identify a numeric trail mapping location and promote trail use and connectivity in neighboring communities along the trail.Highlights of the project include:
   

• Information Stations that will serve as natural stops for users, providing not only general trail information, but supplying way finding and local business detail. The first of these will be built later this spring in strategic points along the 18-mile trail.

• The GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail is the first trail system in the United States with a 1/10th-of -a-mile E911 system. Similar to a mile-marking system along an interstate, it’s important for users and responders to be able to recognize and identify a numeric feature to help pinpoint a location. The campaign will promote public awareness of the system.

• Building Information Kiosks in the communities surrounding the trail. The idea is that users of the trail benefit from knowing more about neighboring trail communities that are rich in history and undergoing impressive redevelopment. Residents of these communities will become stakeholders in this incredible greenway amenity through health benefits and increased neighborhood satisfaction.

“The Where the Trail Am I campaign strives to connect the GHS Swamp Rabbit trail even more to the Greenville community,” said Boyanoski, the project’s chairman. “This Leadership Greenville project team has helped create something that everyone can use and enjoy.”The first stages of this project will be unveiled this week as members of the project team will be working on stenciling new trail markers on April1, April 10, April 15 and April 16. The Leadership Greenville team has made significant progress in raising funds for the project, but still could use support from area businesses.
