Lexington One Hires Morris
June 24, 2014LEXINGTON, SC — At a Special Called Board Meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees held May 31, 2014, the board approved the administration’s recommendation to name W. Gordon Morris assistant director at Lexington Technology Center.
He replaces Peggy S. Crouch who retires at the end of the year after working 36 years at the Technology Center.
Morris has more than 20 years of education experience and currently serves as assistant director at the Kershaw County School District’s Applied Technology Education Campus (ATEC).
He began his career in 1993 as a social studies teacher at North Central High in Kershaw. He moved to Ridgeview High in 1997 to teach history before being promoted to assistant administrator in 2004. In 2006, he began serving as assistant principal at Lugoff-Elgin High until taking on his current role as assistant director at ATEC in 2009.
Morris earned a Bachelor of Science in social studies and education from Wingate University and a Master of Education in educational administration from the University of South Carolina. A National Board Certified Teacher, he has social studies and secondary administration and supervision certifications. He earned a New Career and Technology Administrator certification in 2006.
He is a member of the Association for Career and Technology Education, South Carolina Association for Career and Technology Education and South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
