Lexington One promotes Brazell and Brooks

LEXINGTON, SC – At the May 20, 2014 regular monthly meeting of the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees, the board approved the promotion of Kenneth L. Brazell Jr. and C. Andrew Brooks effective July 1, 2014.
Kenneth L. Brazell Jr., who currently serves as English department chair and eighth-grade English, language and literature teacher at White Knoll Middle School, was promoted to assistant administrator at Pelion Elementary School.
He has 14 years of public education experience. Brazell began his career as a ninth-grade teacher at Northwest Whitfield High School in Georgia in 2000 in the Whitfield County Schools. He joined White Knoll Middle School in 2007.
Brazell currently serves on the district’s Implementation Leadership Team and White Knoll Middle School’s Whatever It Takes Team. He leads professional book studies, tutors and provides homebound services. He also teaches English in the South Carolina Virtual Charter School.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, Language and Literature from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, and a Master’s in Administration and an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. He has secondary education and K–12 administration certifications.
He is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, International English Honor Society.
C. Andrew Brooks, who currently serves as science department chair and sixth-grade teacher at Pleasant Hill Middle School, was promoted to assistant administrator at Rocky Creek Elementary School.
Brooks has eight years of public education experience. He began his career as a fourth-grade teacher at Dutch Fork Elementary School in District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties in 2006.
He currently serves on the Pleasant Hill Middle School Improvement Council, is a member of the schools’ Whatever It Takes Team and School Awards Team. He is a certified Mentor, ADEPT evaluator, and SAFE-T Evaluator.
Brooks holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry from Clemson University and a Master of Arts and Teaching in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. He has elementary education and elementary administration certifications and gifted and talented endorsement.
He is a member of the National Science Teachers Association and the Palmetto State Teachers Association.
