The American Heart Association, devoted to a world of healthier lives for all, announced the donation of CPR training kits and Hands-Only CPR education to the Lexington Youth Football and Cheerleading Association (LYFC). This life-saving initiative was made possible through the generous support of Montgomery Construction.
This donation aligns with the American Heart Association’s Nation of Lifesavers movement, an effort to ensure more people are trained and ready to respond in cardiac emergencies. It includes CPR training kits with manikins, instructional guides, and AED awareness materials, enabling ongoing training opportunities for LYFC teams and volunteers.
“Through this initiative, LYFC coaches, staff, athletes, and families will gain the knowledge and confidence to perform Hands-Only CPR, empowering them to act quickly in critical moments both on and off the field,” said Lizzie Tankersley, director of the American Heart Association, Midlands.
“Montgomery Construction is honored to support the American Heart Association and Lexington Youth Football and Cheerleading Association in bringing CPR training to our community,” said Matt Montgomery, president of Montgomery Construction. “We’re proud to play a small part in helping prepare coaches, parents, and players to respond in an emergency and potentially save a life.”
According to the American Heart Association, more than 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur each year, and nearly 90% are fatal. Immediate CPR can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival. The Association emphasizes that children as young as nine years old can learn hands-only CPR, making youth sports programs a vital part of building a safer, more prepared community.
“We are so grateful for the American Heart Association and Montgomery Construction,” said Jay Kirby, coach and president of LYFC. “Our players and families will now have access to valuable life-saving skills that could make a difference on the field or anywhere in our community.”
