Liberty Fellowship announces new Executive Director and enhancements to its seminar program

October 12, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – Liberty Fellowship announced Luanne Runge has been named Executive Director. A Fellow from the Class of 2009, Runge joined Liberty Fellowship in 2014 as Associate Executive Director. Previously, she was a shareholder with the Gallivan, White & Boyd law firm, practicing in the areas of business litigation, healthcare and malpractice. Runge succeeds Jennie Johnson, who will remain involved with Liberty Fellowship in a network-building role.

“Luanne is immensely talented and has a deep understanding of what it takes to move from thought to action in order to accelerate progress in this state,” commented Hayne Hipp, Liberty Fellowship co-founder. “Transitioning leadership to a Fellow has long been the succession plan, and Jennie and I are delighted to have someone of Luanne’s caliber at the helm going forward.”

Runge takes over as a new seminar is added to the two-year seminar component of the Fellow program, this one focused exclusively on statewide impact. “A Call to Action” will be considered the capstone of the seminar experience, bringing Fellows together as a class for a final time to talk about collective action – working for the good of the state not only with their class members, but leveraging the full network of Fellows now numbering over 250.

As Chief Creative Officer, Johnson will continue to work closely with Fellows from all classes, specifically helping them make connections with one another on issues that benefit South Carolina.

“Jennie built this program from the ground up, interviewing hundreds of nominees to create each class mosaic that reflects the diversity of perspectives that is the hallmark of Liberty Fellowship,” continued Hipp.  “She knows these Fellows personally and, more importantly, has an uncanny ability to connect the dots between them on issues in South Carolina in a way that will drive impact.”

With the changes to the seminar program, the deadline to nominate a Fellow for the 13th class shifts to July 1, 2016. The Fellows in this class will be announced in December 2016, and their seminar program will begin the following spring.
