Liberty Fellowship welcomes new CEO Tycely Williams

July 15, 2024

The Liberty Fellowship Board of Directors has selected Tycely Williams as the new CEO of the organization. Williams will begin her role on July 22, as the Fellowship continues to celebrate its 20th anniversary year.

“I am thrilled to join Liberty Fellowship, an organization that is committed to convening and catalyzing leaders with a wide range of thought who are working to create a better future for all people in South Carolina,” said Williams. “I look forward to working with the Board, Fellows, staff and stakeholders at this exciting time of celebrating milestones while looking ahead to increased positive impact.”

Over her twenty-five-year career, Williams has led inclusive and innovative teams who have raised and managed over $600 million. She most recently served as the chief development officer for The Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) in Washington, D.C., where she crafted strategies to fuel the best ideas from both political parties to promote health, security, and opportunity for all Americans.

“Tycely is a skilled and visionary C-Suite executive who brings a wealth of experience to the Fellowship,” said Betsy Fleming, chair of the Liberty Fellowship Board of Directors. “We look forward to her leadership as the Fellowship continues to build on 20 years of impact in South Carolina.”

Prior to BPC, Williams served as chief development officer for America’s Promise Alliance, the largest alliance of youth-serving organizations in the U.S. She’s also advanced philanthropy as vice president of development of YWCA USA and chief development officer for the American Red Cross National Capital Region.

Williams lives in Charleston, S.C. and spends time in Elloree, where she helps operate her family’s farm. She chairs the governing boards of The Nonprofit Alliance Foundation, and the YWCA National Capital Area. She also serves on the board of directors for Leadership Greater Washington, The Institute for Responsible Citizenship, and The Blackbaud Giving Fund, where she represents the not-for-profit sector at the 10th largest donor-advised fund in America.

“Tycely is a national award-winning consensus builder who shares our passion for South Carolina and for bringing together different leadership perspectives in dialogue and action,” said Kerri Forrest, vice chair of the Liberty Fellowship Board of Directors. “We are thrilled to welcome her to Liberty Fellowship.”

Recognized in 2023 by The Nonprofit Times as one of the Power & Influence Top 50, Williams was also named to the Washington Journal’s Women Who Mean Business list in 2022.

Williams was chosen for the CEO position after an extensive search and interview process led by the Liberty Fellowship Board of Directors in partnership with Find Great People. Previous CEO Ann Marie Stieritz announced her departure earlier this year. Stieritz will continue as a seminar moderator for the Liberty Fellowship Class of 2025 currently underway.
