Local cultural programs to observe Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
May 2, 2019During the month of May, Richland Library is recognizing the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders across the country. Our staff are planning programs that pay tribute to Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM).
These programs are touching on different cultural elements, ranging from traditions and the arts to gardening and cooking. They’re free and open to the public, and they’re taking place across our library system. Please join us on the following dates:
May 4 – Kodomo No Hi: Japanese Children’s Day
May 16 – Handmade Home: Kokedama
May 18 – Cooking: Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls
May 25 – Make Dumplings Like in Crazy Rich Asians
May 28 – Sashiko Stitching
May 29 – Korean Skin Care
In addition, there’s a program series, titled Eastern Exercises for Mind, Body and Spirit, that is focusing on well-being through meditation (May 7), reiki (May 14) and yoga (May 21).
